Anne’s story
My art has never been about money or ego. I started painting at the age of six when, as a fatalistic teenager, I tried to leave something of myself in the world thinking that I would leave it soon.
I had a difficult childhood, with strict upbringing by abusive and absent parents. I never received a hug from my father and his last words I heard, on the night he died, were: “with that girl around I’m not going to get better, you need to take her to her grandmother’s house”. I was eight years old.
Then without him everything got worse, I suffered abuse from uncles and I left home with 11 years old. When I was thirteen I came back, when I was thirteen I was expelled out at ten o’clock at night and because I had nowhere else to go I asked one of my abusers for help! I hadn’t processed my traumas yet, it started soon after.
I didn’t speak to my mother for ten years and saw her a few times after that before she passed away a few years ago.
I expressed myself through art almost my whole life but really learnt how to painting with Natalie Richy on Old masters Academy! I admire her work and am very gratefull. And I wanna win the course so I can learn even more. It’s a treasure!
