Old Masters New Visions

Artwork by Vanessa Letih

I am a 31 year old female from New Zealand.
I have always been an artist like all children and I loved to paint and draw, the things is then I just never stopped when I got older.
It is a way I can express myself and is a form of visual language. A blank canvas is an opportunity to ask myself what is it that I want to say?…

…The Old Masters Academy course looks to be what I have been searching for as it covers so many of the skills I have been wanting to learn. There are many online courses on offer in art, but I have yet to find one that stood out as much as this one. The courses look very structured and easy to follow. I think anyone who was to do one of these courses would benefit greatly. …

I waited for over 35 years to return to painting I haven't got a bit of time to lose or waste Sandra Bridges artist

I waited for over 35 years to return to painting. So I haven’t got a bit of time to lose or waste.

Paintings by Sandra Bridges

In my former occupation I was a kindergarten teacher for 35 years and though I enjoyed it immensely it was not my true love or calling.

I have always been an artist even as a little girl. There was never any doubt that I would one day return to oil painting and my art studies.

My formal education included an art education degree and my teachers basically patted me on the back during my studio classes and said, “Keep on doing what you’re doing.” Funny it was flattering then, but today I know I need more assistance to find new ways to reach my desired goal. Just like a poor grade of paint versus one of top quality. You really don’t know the what you’re missing until you know exactly what you got. What a wake up that can be.

That is how I see taking this course. In the excerpts of videos you have shared out, they are rich with material I want to digest. I want to learn everything you have to offer me. I hadn’t picked up a brush until 2012. I didn’t want to go at painting half heartedly or within any restraints. I waited for over 35 years to return to my first love. So I haven’t got a bit of time to lose or waste. …

I quit a job as a systems analyst and programmer to pursue a degree in art

Painting by Bill Curtis

I have always been an artist. At least I have always been a dabbler at art. About 26 years ago I quit a job as a systems analyst and programmer to pursue a degree in art at the University of Hawaii.

Art holds a high place in my life. Its almost a prayer as I paint and draw or sculpt.

Creating a product I believe, and better yet, the buying public believes is worth purchasing.

Consistency is probably the word, and the techniques I would need to explore other styles and approaches to my art. …
