I have been getting emails from Old Masters Academy for a number of years now. I have just kept painting, doing the one thing in life that has meaning to me and is my escape from my daily life as a carer. I started portrait painting about a year ago, and know I need to improve my application and master techniques that I know Old Masters Art Academy teaches. I am in my latter years of life 74, but I believe you can never stop learning and one can paint right up to their end days.

I’ve had a strong desire to study how the old masters painted for a very long time. For me, it is a huge secret, and regrettably, no one is willing to teach you such tactics today the way you may teach me in your Old Masters Academy course. I so sincerely hope to win this competition in order to develop as a whole artist, hone my abilities, and most importantly, demonstrate to my young kid that I am capable of painting with oil like a “real” painter.
