I want to be a fine artist

In as much as I have enjoyed painting over the years, I’m also a self-taught painter. Consequently, I have had lots of blunders and have haphazardly learned how to paint as I pick up informative techniques here and there. I have certainly benefited from the complimentary tutorials from Old Masters Academy but I would love to win a course membership as it would give me a “first aid” to all my painting woes, especially as I want to be a fine artist and learn how to properly paint portraitures in the tradition, style and form of the old masters.

Years ago, I first picked up painting accidentally after a trip to France and capturing the beautiful countryside with my camera. When I got home, the photos looked so beautiful that I decided I would try to paint it. I was hooked ever since. However, over the years, I have not had any proper training as I was always busy with work, etc. But I kept at it with my painting and, from time to time, I would visit galleries and museum just to look at paintings and to perhaps “reverse engineer” what I was seeing. It sometime worked but mostly I would spend hours just trying to get it down, reworking the painting again and again, just so it looked reasonably in decent form. This inconsistent method and approach to painting is so tiresome. I am hoping for a change and a solution to my lack of knowledge as a painter.

Since I have never had the opportunity to study art/painting in a formal manner, such as a fine art education, I am hoping an opportunity to learn from the complete courses from Old Master Academy would finally set a brighter path for me as a proper painter. Painting is what I love to do and the opportunity to learn from your program would help me gain a formal foundation and education in fine art once and for all. Thank you.
