In Pursuit of Beauty

Artwork by Misa

Hey, I’m a 20-year-old student who finds beauty to be the greatest muse. I deliberately seek inspiration in nature, people, music, and everything else that holds beauty. Over time, I’ve become very sensitive to it.

Art is everywhere—for those with eyes to see it. I believe the purpose of life is to create, and there’s art in that: in creation. Whether it’s The Birth of Venus or a hand-painted shop sign, the desire to make something of your own is incredibly moving. It’s what keeps one afloat in the tumultuous ocean called life(a breath of fresh air if you will) In these fast-paced, consumerism-centric times, I think art is more important than ever. That’s why I make a point to take time and sit with myself, to write, to draw—in short, to create.

One of my main challenges is access to good-quality paper and art supplies. But I work with what I have and try to make slow, steady progress every day.

I’d love to learn how the Old Masters worked—how they sketched, painted, and sculpted. I’m deeply curious about their techniques and creative process, and I want to understand how they developed their ideas into timeless masterpieces.

I’ve been a subscriber of the Old Masters Academy (and Drawing Art Academy) for a while now. I really look forward to new posts and often check the YouTube channel whenever I want to learn something new. It’s been an inspiring resource.

Winning the Old Masters Academy course would mean a lot to me. I’m eager to sharpen my skills and grow as an artist. As someone with a strong appetite for learning, it’s hard sometimes to find accessible, high-quality resources—especially from where I am. Being a student, I am also financial limited when it comes to pursuing my interests. Passion for art is essential, but it’s like a blunt sword—it needs sharpening to be of use 🙂
This course would help me do just that.

The sketch I submitted is of Antinous—a face I find devastatingly beautiful. It’s a humble attempt, but I tried to reflect some of that feeling in my work. I just wanted to share something meaningful, and to connect with others who see beauty in history, memory, and myth.

If the piece speaks to you in any way, I’d truly appreciate your vote. Thank you for taking the time to look.

I want to win this Competition and I need your help!
