Artwork by Carol Rickless
Hello, I’m Carol and am a recent retiree who always loved doing art; drawing, painting, crafting and designing. My dream in high school was to go to college and major in the fine arts. But then, I started work, put myself through a local college and got a ‘safe” degree, Sociology. I finished my working career as an administrative assistant, not a particularly creative job!
I’ve taken many classes in acrylic, watercolor and decorative painting as well as drawing courses. I enjoy going to museums and art galleries to see how artists handle their medium and what inspires them. I belong to our local art league and have made some wonderful friends.
My artistic challenges are color mixing, shading and learning how to “see” what my oil painting needs to move it to the next level. I would like to learn more about good composition. I’m fascinated by the scientific aspects of how paints work such as glazing and mediums used with oils.
I have been consistently oil painting in a studio setting for over two years and absolutely love it! So much that I realize I need to move beyond the studio to improve my drawing and painting style. I regularly turn to the internet to pick up painting tips and happened on the Old Masters Academy course. This course is exciting since it offers great information about the time tested techniques of classical painters.
I want to win the Old Masters Academy course because I am ready to learn more and fine tune my artwork. I’ve put in countless hours drawing, painting and researching techniques to improve my paintings.
If you see your artwork as a labor of love and as a way of connecting and sharing with the world, please vote for me!
