The lazy painter

I am a 27 yr old boy living in Manchester UK, I’m fascinated with plants, animals and portraits of people and enjoy the symbology of painting.

Art is my safe space, it’s what I’ve had a lately for and because of this it’s where my confidence comes from, I’m working towards being a full time professional photographer so art takes up 80% of my life.

My challenges are motivation and materials, I struggle to get what I need to paint due to low pay and these times without it I can get depressed and lose my motivation and passion. My technical challenge is painting freehand without any scaling up lines.

I would like to learn more about how to paint like the old masters. I want to know how to paint a portrait of a person and it glows, my current work is too flat and too dark.

I think old masters academy is a great idea it allows us to reconnect with classical artworks and appreciate them more.

I would like to win this so that I can persue a dream of mine to be able to paint like da Vinci.
People should vote for me because I represent what the common artist is, an every day person struggling to get by but with a raw gift that just needs some guidance.
