Story and artwork from Yun Chen
I really feel that learning art has fundamentally changed my life, it has the ability to calm me down and make myself happy. I like to walk along the longest coastline and draw the blue sea breeze and warm sunset. Sometime I doodle freely on the fruits around the house, mostly on bananas and oranges. Art is something that i can do on my own; it motivates me to be alone without feeling lonely.
When I pick up the brush and see the colours slide smoothly across the surface, I can truly enjoy the private and personal time that belongs to myself.
When I was younger, there was only the concept of ‘becoming a fashion designer’ in my mind when I first begin drawing. It was a dream that sparked my childhood, that belongs to a shy and introverted girl. However, this little dream of mine has evolved over the course of my age, I begin to take every paintings seriously and really feel it coming from my heart.
I don’t want to become a fashion designer anymore, instead, I want to study Fine Art and Education when I go to university. I want to study art in college and keep painting and painting professionally in my own style. But I know that I still lack in skills and depths of art knowledge. I know that the Old Master Academy offers lessons on painting techniques that are not taught in any common art college and it can prime me for an art college and also have impact on my personal art style in the foreseeing future.
Therefore, I am grateful for this opportunity to win the chance of being educated professionally by Natalie Richy and the Old Master Academy.
My most recent painting is that of my brother, Boaz. He is turning five now and he was not expecting himself being depicted as a blue boy in my painting. My art reference is my brother and the ‘Starry Night’ by Vincent Van Gogh.
Please vote for me to support me for college. Thank you!
