Painting by Reynold R. Rossi
I am a 76 year old self taught artist which makes me a lifelong amateur would be artist.
I love to create artworks, some turn out good, some not so good, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My challenge is to create something from nothing, to make an art piece just from imagination.
I would like to learn new ways to create quality art work. I think Old Masters Academy could be very helpful in this regard. To win the Old Masters Academy course would be an encouraging, and inspiring reward.
Why should people vote for me? Good question, I know it would make me very happy, and give me a great boost of confidence. Beside all of this there is the desire to have my artwork evaluated by expert people who are successful trained artists. People who have spent many years in the study or art making.
I can usually draw whatever I see quite well, whether it be a model, or still life, or anything. What really gives me great pleasure though is creating something from nothing. I would like to learn different techniques in oil painting, color harmony, and the way the old Masters created their masterpieces.
I have sold some artworks, but have given most art pieces as gifts to friends, and family. I’m not sure what art pieces to upload, don’t know if any of my works could be considered in an Old Masters contest? I’m old, but certainly not a Master lol.
I haven’t counted my words, it says I need to write 300, and I’m running out of gas. So I’ll just say a few things about what i think about art. It came to me as a young child, I just started to draw, wanted to make a living as an artist but my Father told me to forget it, he said artists are a dime a dozen, and this was way back in the early 50’s. Since then I have found his words to be true, it seems there are as many artists on this earth, as there are trees.
So in summation I’ll finish in saying, to win an art class would be a dream come true. It would at the very least tell me that I am one of those true artists, one of the dime a dozen.
