Art keeps me young

Artwork by Juan Cesana

I was born in Argentina in 1954.
I moved to Australia in January 1986 with my wife and two daughters.
I have been married for almost 42 years and we have three children together, 2 daughters, and one son, we also have 2 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, one great granddaughter and one great grandson.

Art has been my passion since my young years, but never could afford to go to art school, so I practiced at home, doing graphite pencil portraits of family and friends, also caricatures and cartoons.

Once we moved to Australia, I worked hard at my regular job, so I didn’t draw and paint as much I would have liked, but it didn’t stop me from keep practising and learning any chance I got.

At around the age of 55 I bought a set of Prismacolor pencils, and I loved it, I did lots of portraits mainly, but I tended to shy away from of other mediums. Then I starting following youtube tutorials, practicing in oil and acrylics and I painted several small landscapes and 3 more large ones, I found these mediums challenging, compared to my usual use of colored pencils.

Art keeps me young-how to draw

Art for me is a hobby, all the art I have done so far was for family or friends.

Art keeps me young on my mind and I’m always exploring possibilities. My introvert personality does not let me show my art to many peoples for fear of judgement, or rejection etc.
That is one of the reasons I would love to learn from, and be part of this academy. I want to share my work, to be critiqued by professionals, art teachers, art lovers and other students.
I always think, I am too old for this, but my beautiful family keeps encouraging me to keep painting, to continue drawing and creating art.

My challenges as an artist is to improve my confidence and techniques, to create my own style, be able to value and accept criticism, I am my worst critic, because I can be very timid in this regard.
Learning from your academy will sure help me.

In art I like to learn composition, light, human form and landscape and all the techniques from old masters.

From Old Master Academy I just know that is just what I’ve been looking for and it inspired me to apply, I am passionate about the old technics and classic art. So I think it is the perfect academy from which I will love to learn.

The main reason I want to win is my desire to learn the Old Masters techniques, I would be already learning in this academy if I had the budget to afford it.

I think people should vote for me because I have passion, and love of art.

I want to win this Competition and I need your help!
