I’m an autodidact in art
I’m an autodidact in art!
Once in a while I have a paid assignment. Until now I have little time for my creative talents in terms of painting and drawing to exploit and demonstrate.
In the near future, I want to make changes because it gives me a deeper inner satisfaction.
Iche Ranawijaya says
I believe this painting will be the best and win.

Dear Iche Ranawijaya,
Thanks a lot for supporting me but I have my second thoughts and regrets afterwood about joining this kind of competition. Why?…. because there’s no real art-jury that is capabale to judge objectively involved in these. It’s all depends on how many votes you can get from your relatives, friends etc. that you have on the many social medias. So it’s not completely honest. Secondly, the participant who join this competition also promote the “Old Masters Academy” by the many visitors-votes they get from the many participant-fiends on social media. So, the more votes one participants gets, because his large social media friends, relatives etc., the more likely he or she will win. And the knife will cuts on both ends because from all this votes, surely the “Old Masters Academy” will gets his profit also. Nothing wrong with marketing issues though but what I don’t like is the way unproffesionaly votes determine who will be the winner or not! So its not completely honest!
Many thanks for believing in me!

Dear Henk,
Many thanks for your feedback.
First of all, we do not play favorites when nominating winners. We simply take into account how many other people voted for competition participants.
Any influence form our side would be incorrect and therefore we do not interfere with voting.
This competition is totally democratic.
If you have any other suggestions how to organize fair and just nomination of winners, we will be happy to hear your suggestions.
Until we have a better process of voting, we have to stick to the rules – whoever gets the most votes from other people wins the course.
Kind regards,
Old Masters Academy

PS: I place this critical statement before and probably they don’t like it because it isn’t there anymore. I think this is very rude because it is personal aimed at you as a thank you for your appreciation. The next time they do that, I will make it very publicly and give “Old Masters Academy” a very bad name on the internet. I’ve already gathered all the information from the participants, their submissions and the results so far ….. so they are warned!

Dear Henk Cramer,
Many thanks for your recent comment on your Old Masters Academy art competition page.
We really appreciate your feedback and are kindly asking what exactly would you like to achieve?
It looks like you have entered this competition without even reading the rules. Your story should have at least 300 words, and you have wrote only 56. Your story also do not answer all questions we’re asking competition participants.
We are very open and honest by saying upfront that we do not “play favorites” and let public to vote for winners. This is what democracy really means – letting people to decide who should be elected as a president or a winner in our case.
Also, at our personal discretion, in addition to 3 winners nominated by public, we give extra nominations to people who we think deserve to win the course:

There are also participants whom we give the full academy membership, but do not publicly announce such nominations.
Such give-away of memberships means more work on our shoulders as we personally supporting every academy member, giving artwork critiques, answering art questions and mentoring our students. Such support for every member (paid or won) is provided for a lifetime and we pay our time and money doing so.
Any art jury, however professional, would mean only one thing – a closed group of people casting a very personal opinion on participants’ entries. Thus imposing one view on artworks and stories. This is not what we want for our competition and therefore making it as democratic as possible.
The tone of your voice is very negative, you are blacklisting, and this is not acceptable. We have zero tolerance to such behavior.
If you are for any reason unhappy with your entry, just let us know and we will delete your page.
If you have any better proposals how to do winners nomination, please let us know. We are very much interested in our participants opinion.
Continuing negative comments might end up in termination of your participation and giving a public explanation, quoting you name and reasons why your behavior was not acceptable and page deleted.
If you have personal objections against democracy as the way how presidents and governments are selected and how for the same sake our competition winners are nominated, it has nothing to do with us and we will not promote your erroneous points of view.
We appreciate your understanding.
Kind regards,
Old Masters Academy Support
