Artwork by Madena Scutt
Hello!
A hidden talent I never knew existed until I started to explore a creative side and put paint to canvas and the creative juices rose to the surface; big time. Who knew.
From the start I loved everything about oils, the smell, the texture the performance and when on the canvas the oils glittered like jewels and I was hooked.
So every day I would find the time to fit in oil painting, only after spending hours on on-line searches on the what and the how and the who. What are complimentary colours? What are Mediums? How to mix colours. Who is or was the best in portraiture and then I found old Master’s paintings and would sit for hours studying their light and shadow and wondering how they did what they did to bring life and and beauty and wonderment to their Art Work.
Then I found a few of the Old Master’s Academy videos and spent hour after hour watching and listening and learning, because I thought if you are going to learn, learn from the best.
So I took a deep breath and plunged in and to my surprise I found I had the patience and knack for fine detail, as in the detail in clothes and adornments of jewelry and tried for realistic expressions on faces and failed.
I would like very much for people to vote for my very first full length depiction of a young girl, so that I may win a place at ‘Old Masters Academy’ and learn how to make a realistic curve, the turn of a head, the fall of light and shadow to depict realism in my paintings.
Thank you.
And thanks to Old Masters Academy for sharing their few videos to help me move forward with my oil painting.
