Learning to draw from the Old masters is the most unique gift of all

My name is Asma and I am currently learning Fine Arts In National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan and I have a strong ambition to learn the traditional and contemporary forms of art.

One of my Artistic Challenges is learning to draw “Still life’ as nothing is truly more difficult than simply drawing from pure observation. I hope to learn many things in terms of Art such as Digital Painting, Animation, Water colors and Miniature Art which is scarce.

The Old Masters Academy will help me to learn the basic foundation of Arts and in order to become a great artist one must seek to learn that of the old Masters such as Michelangelo and Albrecht Dürer one of my favorite artists, meaning one must learn “how to draw”.

This Work was made on a whole plain drawing sheet using a method called stippling with ink pens. It was based on a fantasy world that I built for my self using references of course. The thought of having a world of my dreams brings in a childhood nostalgia. I have had thought of creating a piece similar to this for a while and now I’ve been given an opportunity and I did so. Using only stippling which took a while however; it was worth my time on a bigger piece and I was able to accomplish it.

I have the ability to learn quickly and catch up and the reason for people to vote for me is because I am willing to learn and accomplish more than I can ever imagine. Having to participate gives me a sense of hope and even if I do not win in the end I have learnt my best and I will continue to learn more as knowledge and will power are two elements that can make a vast difference and make us challenge many hidden obstacles. Moreover; I love learning new things and I play around with realism and distort the figures, I aim for contemporary mostly, but learning to draw from the Old masters is the most unique gift of all.
