By some awesome stroke of luck I came across Old Masters Academy and sampled the instructional videos. Wow! The information offered is vital to the development of real skills. Having been taught at Art College and Fine Art at University I left with no real skills of painting as it wasn’t fashionable to teach in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. It was so frustrating and I was on my own to improve my skills over a professional art career since.
By my own evaluation I am lacking skills that would boost the figurative and realistic work I do to master levels. My figures and landscapes lack dimensionality provided by shadows and proper values. I want viewers to feel the 3D space I am imagining or recreating and not be painting a cartoon.
I picked this painting called “Young Love on the Beach” 30”x40”, oil on canvas, a universal concept of love and the intense emotions of teenagers, and probably went through 10 versions of their expressions. I think it shows where I am at and where I am not at yet in my knowledge base.
With the incredible competition online now for artists I feel it’s vital to learn everything you can every single day to get better so that I can paint the best possible artworks I can.
I am just not in a financial position to support this educational opportunity but I want it really bad! I paint everyday, I display in a gallery in Laguna Beach, I have worked very hard to have a professional looking website, but now the puzzle piece is real atelier training.
Please vote for me and let me fulfill my dreams of painting like a master!
