Artwork by C.P.Weyant
Hello! My name is Chris Weyant. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and studied art and design privately at a small academy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Currently I am living in Oakland, California, and I am painting daily.
My freshman year was spent at a university of art where I began studies in illustration. During the course of that year, I took an art history class, and was introduced to the art of Hellenistic Greece. The day that I saw an image of the Dying Gaul was a day that changed my life. I had never before had such compassion for any person as that which I felt when I saw that marvelous statue. From that point forward, I began looking for instructors who might help me in my pursuit of studying the antique style.
Since then, Art takes its place at the center of my life and thinking. Every aspect of painting is a challenge—be it coloring, drawing, or perspective. I learned early on that these elements are essential tools of artistic thinkers if they wish their images to become universally understood and appreciated among viewers. The challenges and difficulties, however are what makes creative work the most frustrating and at the same time, the most rewarding vocation.
I would like to learn more about glazing and underpainting specifically, and from the brief videos I have seen, this course seems to be very helpful in teaching those techniques—especially underpainting and glazing figures in the classical style.
I hope that people will enjoy this image — my goal is to delight people with pictures. That’s what it is all about. I believe that beauty depends on purpose, and it is only when that purpose has been fully understood that beauty shines forth most strongly. Thank you so much for your consideration!
Sincerely,
Chris
