Painting has been at the heart of my creative practice since I was young, I always had a pencil or brush in my hand and find it an important way to express feelings to other people. I am at my happiest when I am in front of the easel making beautiful pieces of work in my small studio space.
By day, I work in administration in a role which helps people who have had challenges in their lives find their first footing on the educational ladder and find their way back into mainstream living. I use my eye for detail and creative skills to help customers submit their work and earn their certificates. In my free time, I love to record and develop ideas in my sketchbook, improve my skills and stretch my imagination in my home studio.
The Old Masters Academy is a unique place to learn about the complex techniques and skills of the classical painting process. I would love to spend my time absorbing the outstanding quality lessons on offer and would find the flexible learning structure ideal to fit around my day job.
My aim is to learn the classical painting process which is not fashionable in contemporary art education and to use the knowledge to promote the artisan craft of fine art painting through my passion and knowledge gained.
I hope people would vote for me as I have a deep passion for fine art and sharing it with other people. My paintings to date have been based on uninhabited interior spaces, natural history subjects and Scottish landscapes in acrylic and, less so, oil paint. I would love to take part in the Old Masters Academy as I would like to explore other subjects and develop the confidence to paint portraits with the help of fantastic teaching, tutor feedback and a lively creative community.
