Artwork by Wayne Lucina
I live in a small town in New Jersey U.S.A. I am 55 years old and I have been painting for about 5 years.
I work every day and fit painting in whenever I can. I wish I could do it full time.
Art is very important to me because it allows me to exercise my imagination in ways I never thought possible. Going to museums and seeing paintings of all types really unleashed a passion in me to continue painting and improving. Nothing is more powerful than seeing an Old Master painting in person. It is quite revelatory and humbling.
As I attempt to improve I find my challenges include, perspective, proportion, color mixing and shading. I would like to learn how to do these and other techniques more confidently in my attempts to improve.
The Old Masters Academy course is very exciting and quite comprehensive in its scope. I am a member of the Drawing Academy and I find that course indispensable.
I would like to learn all that is involved in Old Masters style painting and I believe The Old Masters course is the way to go.
As with most people in New Jersey, money is tight and affording the course right now is not possible, so winning this competition could really make a difference. I’m a very serious artist and a avid learner. A vote for me would not be wasted and most appreciated.
