Artwork by Adrian
Hi! My name’s Adrian. Since I was a small child I always had a pencil in my hand or tucked behind my ear. I loved to draw and paint every day, every chance I had. I learned from whatever books I could get – I loved to copy Michelangelo, Leonardo, Rembrandt, Vermeer. Family and friends told me I had a natural gift. But there were no art classes available where I grew up, so I didn’t have the opportunity to get disciplined training or develop my skills.
And somehow twenty years passed by, filled with work as a manager and family commitments, and no way I could find the time or resources to go to art school. But I never let go of my first passion, which has stayed inside me all this time.
When I discovered the Old Masters Academy, it was as if I woke up finally from a long sleep. From the samples of video lessons I can see that this academy is an amazing gift for someone like me who couldn’t get to art school. To learn the skills and techniques of the masters who I adore and respect so much!
The picture of the pear you see is a drawing I made from a photo, trying to use classical drawing technique. I wanted to make sure I still have the ability and the desire after all these years. I loved doing it so much! And I know I have so much to learn about bringing the essence of the subject to life, modeling, composition, mood, tone…
If you are kind enough to vote for me, I will throw all of my effort into this passion that has always been with me. I have a lot of lost time to make up for!
I want my art to celebrate nature and wildlife and the amazing natural beauty of this world. I want to use my art to help people see the incredible power and beauty of nature, and hopefully encourage them to preserve and respect the gift we’ve all been given to live on this earth.
