At the age of 63 now I still want to learn

Artwork by James E Amidon

As early as I can remember, I wanted to make Art my life. Since the age of 5 years, I have been striving and pushing myself to be the best I could be. Drawing almost every day in my adolecent years up through high school, I spent hours on copying out of magazines and photos to achieve that most realistic level.

At the age of 63 now I still want to learn

In High School there was no Art teacher so again I would take every opportunity after school to hide in my drawing, developing my shading and composition skills.

Finally in junior college I got my first taste of actual instruction and observed what I could but wanted more.

The Renaissance! Oh my gosh! How beautiful their skill level. I wanted that feeling of accomplishment. I was able to travel to larger cities and see the marvellous works of Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Da Vinci.
Living in a very rural area with no exposure of these treasures, I wanted to learn how they thought and painted.

When I happend onto the Old Masters Academy website I knew ” That’s how I wanted to learn and improve my craft.
Short on resources, I am taking this opportunity to ask any and anyone to alow me to continue learning the Old Masters Way of drawing and painting.

At the age of 63 now I still have the thirst and desire to learn and apply this knowledge to be the best I can.

Your votes are most appreciated and won’t be wasted.

Thank you for this opportunity. James
