Help me paint my masterpiece

Artwork by Brodie Wilson

Hi, I’m Brodie. I’m a 19 year old aspiring painter. I’m entirety self taught and have had no formal training in painting at all.

Art is the most important thing in my life and it has been for as long as I can remember really.

My greatest ambition is simply to be able to say that I’ve created something that can be called a “masterpiece”; I want to be able to compete with the greatest painters of the history of art.

I think the Old Masters Academy Course offers a great service to those who are seeking a way to make art that just isn’t taught anymore. They offer help and advice and tutoring on the methods of the greatest painters who have lived and many people have highly regarded them for their efforts in this. …

The Old Masters in Me

Paintings by Caroline Bell-Reed

I have been dabbling in the arts for many years, and actually went to the University in Windsor Ontario and received a bachelor of Fine Arts.
My enjoyment of art comes from pleasing others….its very gratifying when my art is appreciated and valued…..and even treasured.

I would like to learn how to loosen up, add drama and boldness in my portrait work. There are so many things I need to learn to be good.

The Old Masters Academy would be a great resource – I believe winning the course would vastly improve anyone’s skills….it would be an honor and a privilege to take the course. …

I have never had any instruction in art and it is time to learn from the Masters

by Guillermo Novo

Years ago I started to draw and paint as something natural in me, and I made one mistake, never asked for help or instruction, always though that the conventional schools of art were excessively expensive and unreachable, for that reason I never had the education in art that I wanted.

I can’t stop loving art and trying to learn to produce beautiful art and trying to get better which is difficult without the correct guidance and instructions.

In art I would like to have the instruction and the guided practice to produce decent pieces of art and develop a consistent technique that produce a consistent result. …

Learn how to paint

Several years ago I became very ill and the many activities that I use to participate in are not possible. I will have to leave the activities that require a lot of physical stamina to a younger and stronger generation.

Since I was very young art has always been a part of my life. I want to be able to express how I feel about the world around me to others by sharing my talents. Since I can no longer do things like paint a logo on the Boy Scouts Trailer I need to find a way to do that.

I went to college in the 1960’s and there was an attitude that you didn’t need to know how to paint or draw realistically to be an artist. I have always felt that there was something missing and it seems that the Old Masters Academy is where one can gain those missing skills.

In addition, how much fun will it be to paint realistic portraits of my Grandchildren and the cute little neighbor kids that seem to love to come to my house. …

Drawing and art subjects at school became my relief from the stress of home life

Artwork by Lee Anchor

I was born and raised in Hong Kong. Growing up in Hong Kong, my family and I experienced hardship, where work and income were important for the family’s survival and basic needs of food and accommodation.

To help the family, every day after school, I did part-time work and quite often finished at 8-9pm. I was 12 years old when I started working. This affected my attendance and performance at school and my education became secondary to ensure my younger brothers had enough food to eat.

Notwithstanding my poor education, I began to realise my natural talent for drawing and design when my teachers regularly used my school work to demonstrate to other students. Drawing and art subjects at school became my relief from the stress of home life. It became my outlet when I was upset or had no one to turn to. Because of my poor up-bringing, I was not able to develop my skills and passions. …

Art is my source of joy and hopefully my source of income

Artwork by Marco Cuenco

I am a young artist and I have just kick started my art career.

Modern art schools do not have proper techniques and I would love to learn the techniques in Old Masters Academy course. Art takes a serious place in my life, basically it is my everything.

My challenges are when people think that I am not a serious artist. I am also financially unstable and I cannot afford this course.

I struggle with proportion and anatomy. People enjoy my artworks but for me I am personally not happy with the outcome. I am simply having a hard time teaching myself. I want to learn the techniques of the Old Masters taught by Natalie Richy because I want to have a more expanded knowledge of art and I am a huge follower of Natalie. …
