Art is my joy and therapy in isolation!

Artwork by Carmen

My artistic challenges are to learn how to paint realistically, but in a loose and imaginative manner. I adore the artwork of the male and female Old Masters. They were the pioneering trail blazers of art and made such innovative discoveries in art techniques. The way they painted takes my breath away! I want to learn about all their art techniques! I want to know about their colour theory, how they mixed colours effectively, their different layering techniques, and how they painted human skin, hair, clothing, animal fur, bird feathers, and water realistically using modern materials. I want to paint portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and paint images that I see in my imagination using the painting techniques of the Old Masters.

I am a self-taught artist with a great passion

Artwork by Grazyna Urbanek

… The Renaissance was a period in history that interests me a lot. I admire the skills and painting techniques that artists of that era had. These artists were able to display subtle lights, details, movements and emotions and even create an unbelievable atmosphere within their paintings. Antiquity in paintings of Sandro Botticelli specifically warms my heart. I hope that with the help of the Old Masters Academy course, I will be able to recreate some of his paintings to the best of my ability. I always had a big dream of attending a Fine Art School and learn from master artists, but never did because of the obstacles in my life. …

Painting is the most important thing in my life

Artwork by Zurab Eradze

Improving art skills is not a project, it is a life-long process. Even the best artists never stop learning. Every step I take significantly determines the future of my personality.

I am sure, I will study the almost forgotten painting techniques of the Old Masters. As I read about the course, this curriculum is designed as a complete step-by-step system of both theoretical and practical knowledge from art vocabulary and art materials to how to paint like the old masters using modern materials. I will get constructive critique of my artwork by the tutor. This is the best art learning experience you can have without leaving your home.

I have painted my whole life whenever I could between raising my son and work. Recently, I have been able to do painting again but I still want to be able to paint daily. I dream of painting for a living and get to a place where I can sell paintings in a gallery. …

… Artistically I want to learn classical painting like the old masters and get faster. I do tend to be more realistic in my approach which is why I am looking into the Old Masters Academy. Where I live doesn’t allow me to find any teachers nearby that I can learn from on a regular schedule.

I know I will get solid training with your Academy. I don’t have many years left to paint so this would be wonderful.

Amazing course! Old Masters Academy review by Pauline

Old Masters Academy course student

A year ago I began studying this wonderful course. I read and listened over and over again all the art lessons and art history. I was overwhelmed by all the information and precision of the art lessons. So much to learn and practice. Let me tell you, I was pretty scared. I had a lot of work ahead of me, but I enjoyed it so much.

Even if I’m retired, I am a very busy lady. I took my time and went through nearly all of the lessons and did the exercises. My goal was to paint a portrait in the style of the 16th century.

… A happy member and student of the Old Masters Academy.

How to Draw like the Old Masters

What we can learn from Raphael

This year, the World commemorates the 500th anniversary since the death of one of the great masters of the High Renaissance in Italy – Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino, whom we simply know as Raphael.

This March, I was very fortunate to visit one of the biggest and best of all the events in Italy – the Raphael Exhibition at Rome’s Scuderie del Quirinale where there were displayed over 200 works of art.

In this short video, you can see how I make a quick sketch at this exhibition.
