I make sure to draw or paint daily to constantly keep improving my skills
Artwork by Nella Schirinzi
I’m a self taught artist with some higher education in Fine Art. I’m Italian & English and currently based in the UK. I work full time in Admin and spend most evenings painting.
Art has and has always had a large place in my life. From visiting museums and spending time trying to recreate old master paintings, I study and read about various art movements. I also find the history and narrative behind old painting very interesting as they add to the piece’s intrigue. I make sure to draw or paint daily to constantly keep improving my skills. …
… I’d love to be able to create pieces of Art to honour the Renaissance Masters and keep this style of Art alive.
I realized I needed to learn how to draw first…
Artwork by Sonia M. Conrad
I am almost 60 years old, from El Salvador, came to this country in 1976 and became a nurse. I have devoted my life to caring for others, 22 years caring for the elderly and will be 15 years in July working for the hospital Home Health. I always loved art, going to museums, galleries, and wished I could do that too. While I drove from patient to patient through mountains, hills, rivers, creeks, woods, I took many pictures of what I wanted to paint one day!.
My son gave me a watercolor kit, I started using it and realized I needed to learn how to draw first, eventhough my desire to paint is greater that I just go for it. …

Before and After by Old Masters Academy student
I’m thirty-seven years old and a mum of two. My life is full of domestic duties and obligations. I also work part time in a nursery. What could be more routine than my life? I do love my family and my work, but honestly speaking, I had expected a different life for myself. …
I paint each day and sketch each evening

I started taking my art seriously when I turned 40. …
To learn even half the information that the classical painters understood as a basic without having the cost of attending an ateliar would be great. This is where Old Masters Academy TM come in. This seems to be the only real course that has structure and has content that is going to deliver on teaching how to paint like the old masters. If I could win this course it would be amazing to gain all this knowledge!
I have been drawing and painting most of my life
Artwork by Charles Grissom
I am 72 years old and know it’s never too late to learn. I have been drawing and painting most of my life so art plays a major roll, especially now that I am retired. I am mostly self-taught.
In the 70’s I was fortunate to be living in Manhattan and I attended Art Students League taking drawing and painting classes for a few months. I was married and had two little girls and a great wife that helped me by working extra so I could pursue my art. Fearing I would never be good enough I abandoned my dream. …
I have a passion for drawing and painting
Artwork by Peta WILLIAMS
How to start is always a challenge whether it be the first step up to a blank canvas or placing a pen upon a clean blank page.
I am an Australian living in Sydney and apart from our catastrophic fires at moment I have a passion for drawing and painting. …
I would appreciate an opportunity to study at Old Masters Academy as it would refine my technique. I would be honoured people should vote for me because I am obsessed with art with learning and with perfecting my capabilities.
Go for oil – might be the right time for me
Artwork by Burkhard Leitner
I was painting since I was a child, with crayons, watercolors, pencils and everything else. With 14 I tried to enroll at artschool, but they refused me. So I turned away from drawing and painting for about 10 years.
Then I startet again and taught myself and learned from books and magazins. Watercolors and acrylics on canvas were and are my favourite materials, some attempts I made with digital painting on a drawing tablet, but it is not like painting with brushes and real colours.
I would like to paint like the old masters
Artwork by Sallie Day Mogerman
My older sister was our family artist. Thinking (erroneously) that there could be only one per family, I spent my youth pursuing Literature. While Dortha was studying portrait painting with a master portraitist I was striving for a Masters in English Lit. But when I saw the beautiful paintings she was producing, I thought, “Hey, I can do that!” …
For the past 15 years, I have been painting portraits at the Foundry Art Centre in Saint Charles, Missouri. But I am rarely satisfied with my work. I want to produce something better. I would like to paint like the old masters.
