Learning and improving myself is never ending story

Artwork by Monika Mirella Bielinska

Hi! My name is Monika. I live in Poland, in small town near the Baltic sea. I love coffee, classical music, learn how to play classical guitar and absolutely love to crochet. Also I can sew so from time to time I sew new skirts for me and my Mama. …

… I would like to win the Old Masters Academy™ course because I want to teach in future. This is great opportunity to grow better painters in future. Maybe I could establish my own art school.

I am passionate about painting

Artwork by Diana Licon

I have been painting for a number of years exploring a variety of mediums and styles. Art is healing for me through many instances in my life, including the drowning death of my only child. I do not have a child to leave behind, but can create artistic “children” that may last for hundreds of years.

I currently work in both oils and acrylic. I am exploring impasto techniques and have read that the old masters have explored and incorporated impasto in their work. I believe that Rembrandt, Titan and Rubens are a few who found value in this technique. I would like to learn more about this topic too. …

how-to-paint-Becoming a Painter

Becoming a Painter

Artwork by Janice Heligman

I have been an artist in some capacity or other for most of my 62 years. I have been creating since I was a small child.

Art is the biggest part of my life now that my children have grown and moved away.

I need to learn the proper way of layering paint so to create deeper, richer paintings. Your classes look so interesting to me and the students who post obviously have learned a great deal from them. I want to win the Old Masters Academy course so that I too may be a student who can post her paintings in a testament to your class. …

My home is my workshop. My living room is 30m2 also packed with paintings and my 4 studio easels. So i work at 6-8 paintings at the same time. 2 easels are handmade by me. In the summer i can work in my garden.

All i’m missing now is the technic to lift my work to a next level.

Cutting Through the Canvas

Artwork by Linder Kaur

Me? I guess it’s about living life in the fullest way possible including the placement of Art in your life. I paint sporadically. Sometimes full of Passion turning out a dozen paintings.., and then sometimes abject disappointment with my projects that lie sitting on the shelf.

I think its due to lack of learning the basics why the drawings and paintings never match what goes on inside my head. I am battling through the Anatomy Master Class and have learned a lot. Takes a lot of repetition to train the brain. I have seen the difference the course has made with my figurative paintings. Now the people I paint look more lifelike, have movement and don’t look so arthritic.

Old Masters Academy review by Maria Ohamsky

Before and After by an Old Masters Academy student

…At my lowest point, a friend of mine from the college gave me a book titled Better Than College. This book has changed my life. I took it as guidance. I stopped playing the victim and started to find alternatives to college. One day, I stumbled upon the Old Masters Academy website. There, I realized that what I really want to do is not illustration but classical oil painting. This was a big shift in my understanding of art.

I am a Self-taught paintress

Artwork by Catalina Diaz

I was attracted like a moth to the fire to the Old Masters technique since long ago, and I set myself to the quest of it, I found a teacher that brought to me the Venetian Technique, a blending of Temperas and other materials used by the Old Masters. I want this, I want to know how they do it, I want to master it, I want to reach the same beauty, boldness, contrast, textures, light that they master. …

… I’m impressed about what you teach here, I’m excited about the wealth of information here, I’m eager to find that this is the next step in my quest. …

… I want to bring new ideas and new art with the power and beauty and technicity of the Old Masters Technique.

Art now occupies about 80% of my time

Artwork by Brian F Alward

I am 79 years old, retired, and about 10 years into making my senior years productive with fine art.

… I also taught myself about the mediums of watercolor and acrylics and took some oil lessons.
Art now along with moderate exercise occupies about 80% of my time.

… I think that, from the description presented in the outline of this course, that the Old Masters Academy can help project me to that end.
