Art, in the broadest sense of the word, is for me a way of connecting to Self, the Self inherent in all being, and so doing celebrating the sacredness of Life. In me, in you, in Mother Earth, in Nature.
I grew up in an artistic household, my father an artist and my mother a ballet dancer in her youth. I have been inspired to create both through dance and fine Art, although this path has not been a continuous, or smooth one. Gradually though, at nearly 50, my way is becoming more and more clear. I have moved into teaching the lovely art of Oriental Dance as a form of prayer and a way of expanding into Life, and specializing in portrait painting, which to me is honoring the universal beauty of Life in another human being, in all their individuality.
What I do come across in Fine Art however, in spite of having attended Art School, is that I miss a solid education in techniques in oil painting. Of course I understand the basics and have learned a lot in my practise, but I lack the ingredients needed to create the magic I am so in awe of in the work of Old Masters. Also, I can still find myself dabbing about, basically hoping for the best. Which mostly works out in the end, but takes a lot of time and energy, and affects my self confidence in a negative way.
Technique is crucial to all Art. As a tool, which should so natural that it is not a presence in itself, but which serves to make the spirit of the artwork visible.
To learn and to understand the techniques of the Old Masters (build-up, composition, colour, glazing etc.) would give me the tools to greatly enhance my artistic vocabulary and help me attain the freedom I now miss. What I would love to achieve with this course, is to paint with more grace and ease, to explore a new realm, enabling me to expand my world and in so doing give beauty back to the world in which I live!
The course would also help me attain not only artistic, but financial freedom as I gain courage to give my work visibility, standing strong on the fundament that the Old Masters Academy will help me to build.
The Old Masters Academy appears to me to be wonderfully structured, offering clear and precise lessons stretching into every nook and cranny possible. It empowers students of every level, giving them the tools and the skills necessary to blossom confidently in their discovery of fine art.
Also the life-time access is fantastic, giving students the opportunity to continue learning in a layered process. Each time a lesson is revisited new insights are attained and understanding is deepened.
I think it is clear why I would so love win this course, and ask you to help me do so by giving me your vote.
Thank you!
