I am finally able to paint what I have envisioned

Artwork by Robin Oliver

In this story the blue moon is the doorway in time through which I will pass when I am finally able to paint what I have envisioned myself creating since early childhood. For decades the blue moon has waxed and wained but it never grows to fullness, it lingers at the half stop and blinks again.

Artistically I use many mediums in my attempts to depict images which I have seen or felt in my dreams. I am a visionary artist exploring the unconscious mind through art. However, I have no funding for this exploration and there is a vision of many unborn paintings which are awaiting the fundamental spark of life to be able to become visible in the physical world. This artwork will require the tools and techniques of the Renaissance masters.

I am finally able to paint what I have envisioned

I have skills which are the foundation for mapping this new pathway on my expedition into the cerebral forest; I am certified in Scientific Illustration and have recently completed an Associates degree in Graphic Design, though these are merely tools and methods, they will not take me where I need to go without the soul power found in the depth, elegance and lavish detail utilized by the Renaissance masters.

The dreamscape paintings which I have created in the past come close to displaying my visions but something is missing and I am sure that it is the visual depth and temperatures in the artwork of the Renaissance masters. I want to understand this distinctive use of light and shadow, the drama of color and the hypnotic grace of the old master’s works.

The knowledge that you offer in your Old Masters Academy course would allow me to endow my paintings with a more robust sense of realism, to create a visual space which the viewer could almost enter and also act as a door way through which I can finally pass and find myself in the long awaited companionship of the of the blue moon.
