“Since I was a child, drawing and painting has been a passion of mine, but life has only now presented me a change to embrace this passion. With some effort, I can now work and study at the same time, I admit that is very difficult in terms of time and expenses, but my heart smiles to me at the end of the day.
My name is Marianne Schilstra, 53 years of age, married with a farmer and I live in the northern part of The Netherlands. Since my childhood, I like drawing and painting. I aim to learn and promote the traditional classical style of painting to a high degree as I feel this skill has been lost over the past 150 years or so. My challenges I think are with color choice and the struggle to see tones better and is therefore what I want to learn from this course. I believe the Old Masters Academy teaches the correct way to paint and is necessary to acquire to become whatever kind of artist you might choose to be afterwards… it’s the best foundation in my view.
