how-to-paint-Old-Masters-I’m an entirely self-taught artist

I’m an entirely self-taught artist

Artwork by Jeff Vehige

My name is Jeff, and I’m a 45-year-old stay-at-home dad of four kids. I gave up an academic career for my kids, and now that the oldest is off to college and the youngest is eleven, it’s time that I start thinking about my “second” career. I want that to be art. …

…Over the past two years of painting, my artistic interests have evolved. At first, I thought I’d be a happy landscape painter. But now I know I want to tell stories with my paintings, and that means mastering the human face and figure. When I look at the history of art, the greatest figures painters were the Old Masters and all the contemporary artists who follow in their footsteps. That’s the road I want to travel.

I think the Old Masters Academy is a perfect opportunity for learning the “secrets” of the greatest painters who ever lived. I don’t know how far I will go in art, but I want to go as far as I can, to be able to paint whatever I want — or whatever any client wants. That’s I want to win the Old Masters Academy course for that very reason — to begin the journey to becoming a contemporary artist and bring much-needed beauty into this world. …

Lifelong art interrupted

Artwork by Maria Wegorzewski Grotek

Art was gifted to me when I was born. I have been drawing since age 4 – I was never able to continue my art classes because I could not afford them.

I have been creating art over the last 50 odd years on and off – some I entered into competitions and won some I sold to friends some I just kept.

I have picked up bits and pieces of instruction but life obligations prevented me from mastering techniques that I wanted to use to create my work. …

Art is an Existence not a Hobby

Artwork by Lou Spina

I am a 75 year old artist. Have been creating art since I was a very young child. My career was in commercial art. I attended the High School of Art & Design and went on to attend Brooklyn Community College where I took their Commercial Art course in advertising. …

… What I want to learn is the foreshortening of the figure and the coloration of the figure.
Old Masters Academy is the ultimate place to learn the drawing and painting of the figure.

I believe the course will help me improve my drawing and painting skills to where I want to be.

People should vote for me because I am a dedicated artist …

I thought that drawing was just for the most talented

Artwork by Annette Smith

I am a woman who thought that drawing was just for the most talented. I am 65 years old working as a lay Christian advisor, internet talk show host ( abbadaddygirls.live ) and now thanks to old masters Academy I am becoming an artist.

Old masters Academy is the best place to learn from. They really care about you go the extra mile to make sure you know your work.

I want to win this course because the more I can learn the better of an artist I will become. I don’t want to be taught by any other place but Old Masters Academy. …

Contemporary Master

Artwork by Sue Marie

To me, art is a careful cooperation of acquired skill and personal expression. Throughout my life, I’ve always felt a strong need to create artwork, both for the sheer fun of it, but also because I wanted my ability to improve. It wasn’t until college that I realized and ultimately decided that I should strive to make a career of my passion.

I’ve come to learn about many types and styles of art, but above all I admire the beautiful, classical artwork of the old masters. Unfortunately, I’ve found that as I study art in my classes, I don’t have the opportunity to improve my skills in the way I want. Other types of art like abstract, cartoons and stylized illustrations are very popular right now, and it seems like classical fine art is not getting the attention it very well deserves. For this reason, I am interested in the Old Masters Academy. …
