I found old Master’s paintings and would sit for hours studying their light and shadow by Madena Scutt

I found old Master’s paintings…

Artwork by Madena Scutt

A hidden talent I never knew existed until I started to explore a creative side and put paint to canvas and the creative juices rose to the surface; big time. Who knew.

From the start I loved everything about oils, the smell, the texture the performance and when on the canvas the oils glittered like jewels and I was hooked.

So every day I would find the time to fit in oil painting, only after spending hours on on-line searches on the what and the how and the who. What are complimentary colours? What are Mediums? How to mix colours. Who is or was the best in portraiture and then I found old Master’s paintings and would sit for hours studying their light and shadow and wondering how they did what they did to bring life and and beauty and wonderment to their Art Work.

Then I found a few of the Old Master’s Academy videos and spent hour after hour watching and listening and learning, because I thought if you are going to learn, learn from the best. …

I wanted more – to create my own art

Paintings by Roman Jaskolski

My name is Roman and professionally I work as a software engineer.
I remember that as a child I liked to draw, but then PC era began and I focused on the programming.
This kept me 100% busy for over 30 years.

Three years ago I got as a gift a set of pencils. I can say this changed to some extent my life.
I created number of clumsy drawings and was very surprised. This kind of activity was much more exciting than programming!

I focused on the art knowing that I know nothing about it. I read many books about Old Masters, impressionists etc, visited some galleries, bought and watched various instructional cd’s.
This gave me more understanding what art is. But I wanted more – just to create my own art.
As the result began to experiment with various media (watercolor, pastel, oil, tempera), techniques and subjects.

Now art consumes 100% of my free time.
I found that the academic (traditional) approach to the art and Old Masters techniques is the direction I want to follow. …

So one night I drew a Mona Lisa portrait drawings by Deborahe G. Squires artist

So one night .. I drew a Mona Lisa portrait

Artwork by Deborahe G. Squires

I am a 61 year old female who always dabbled in drawing since grade school. An art teacher named mrs. Lansett encouraged me to take her class the last semester and I did .

I drew a students portrait and when everyone saw it I had kids begging me in the hallways to draw their portrait. That began my enthusiasm for drawing .

My art teacher helped me apply for art college and I was accepted. Instead of going there I went to a bible college ( which I don’t regret) and dreamed of going to the beach to sit on the boardwalk to draw portraits.

That never happened and life went on with having 5 children that turned into 8 grandchildren. Every now and then I’d do a self portrait. Back in my day you did not have the internet to help you if you didn’t go to art college or take some kind of classes that (I couldn’t afford) you probably wouldn’t learn. …

Artist for Life!

Artwork by Frank Paquette

I am a 49 year old with a love for painting life’s little moments. I have dabbled with artistry since I can’t remember when! I have always loved visiting Galleries and Art museums, just to look and study paintings and how / why they were created. I find the ability to create portraits fascinating!

I am not schooled in arts, but have self educated in the hopes to learn from anyone / anything I can.

I would love to learn more about form correlation, colour theory and application, perspective, etc… You are never too old to add to your skills!

Old Masters Academy is, in my opinion, ideal for me. From the level of interaction I have seen, this would be an asset for learning. Being that I have a full time employment, it would be very difficult for me to attend normal classes where I am from (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada). The Old Masters Academy would be perfect for me, as I could study at my own pace. …

The strugle

Paintings by Luiz Henrique da Rocha Azevedo

During my life I always drew and, later on, painting in oil technique, introduced by my father’s collection of Fine Arts. I have this collection until the present. In one book, dedicated to Flemish and Holland Painting, was Rembrandt, Vermeer and many others.

I honour this old master and their way to make fine arts until now with my modest oil paintings and the Web Art Academy course help me to improve, and a lot, my work.
This can be seen in the later works at luizhenriqueazevedo.com

I would like to achieve my best. There is a relationship of this search and the works to be done. …

It is difficult to make time for my art but I try to get that time from somewhere

Art by Vruti Mistry

I am a self-learning artist, practicing art to become an artist and an art curator.
Art is the most important thing in my life, it is my priority and then comes my family responsibility.

As a married woman, it is difficult to make time for my art but I try to get that time from somewhere luckily.
I would like to learn the techniques to improve my art and to paint differently from other artists. …
