It would be amazing to learn how to paint like the old masters!

Paintings by Daniela Goncalves

Hello! I’m Daniela I live in Portugal and I’m 44 years old.

I love to paint. Painting allows me to access parts of myself that I do not know. When I paint I’m always happy.

I would like to win this course because the kind of painting I practice is intuitive and expressive. Getting to learn how to paint like the old masters would be amazing! I think the combination of these two art forms could result in very interesting works. …

Without extra schooling I will not get much better than I am now

Paintings by Hans Mozer

My name is Hans Mozer and am 60 years.

I only started to paint seriously after I’ve been back from an eleven year short adventure in Benidorm, Spain(1993-2004). With hard work every night (even Christmas and new year) as bar owner, singer/entertainer in clubs and bars and as a songwriter at daytime.
Due to health problems of my wife we returned back to Holland.

1992 I painted my first few painting and made some sculptures
.
From 2006 I worked with oilpaint only.

September 2016 I cut off the thumb of my preference hand. I’m a lefty. Fast surgery saved my thumb, but it has become static, almost impossible to write, draw or paint. With months of practice I was able to continue my painting with a handicap. My last oil painting ‘The Battle’ , 185x140cm, has partly been painted with my right hand and is almost ready. …

I have never had any instruction in art and it is time to learn from the Masters

by Guillermo Novo

Years ago I started to draw and paint as something natural in me, and I made one mistake, never asked for help or instruction, always though that the conventional schools of art were excessively expensive and unreachable, for that reason I never had the education in art that I wanted.

I can’t stop loving art and trying to learn to produce beautiful art and trying to get better which is difficult without the correct guidance and instructions.

In art I would like to have the instruction and the guided practice to produce decent pieces of art and develop a consistent technique that produce a consistent result. …

Art is what I love to do

I am Komal. I am Civil Engineer and home maker.

Art is what I love to do. And its giving me self satisfaction when I make piece of any art.

Mostly quick figure drawings, finding values and quick sketching are the fields which I found challenging for me.

Old Masters Academy is, in my opinion a good platform to learn. Learning from it will be great for me. The Old Masters Academy would be perfect for me, as I could study at my own pace. …

I found old Master’s paintings and would sit for hours studying their light and shadow by Madena Scutt

I found old Master’s paintings…

Artwork by Madena Scutt

A hidden talent I never knew existed until I started to explore a creative side and put paint to canvas and the creative juices rose to the surface; big time. Who knew.

From the start I loved everything about oils, the smell, the texture the performance and when on the canvas the oils glittered like jewels and I was hooked.

So every day I would find the time to fit in oil painting, only after spending hours on on-line searches on the what and the how and the who. What are complimentary colours? What are Mediums? How to mix colours. Who is or was the best in portraiture and then I found old Master’s paintings and would sit for hours studying their light and shadow and wondering how they did what they did to bring life and and beauty and wonderment to their Art Work.

Then I found a few of the Old Master’s Academy videos and spent hour after hour watching and listening and learning, because I thought if you are going to learn, learn from the best. …

I wanted more - to create my own art Painting by Roman Jaskolski artist

I wanted more – to create my own art

Paintings by Roman Jaskolski

My name is Roman and professionally I work as a software engineer.
I remember that as a child I liked to draw, but then PC era began and I focused on the programming.
This kept me 100% busy for over 30 years.

Three years ago I got as a gift a set of pencils. I can say this changed to some extent my life.
I created number of clumsy drawings and was very surprised. This kind of activity was much more exciting than programming!

I focused on the art knowing that I know nothing about it. I read many books about Old Masters, impressionists etc, visited some galleries, bought and watched various instructional cd’s.
This gave me more understanding what art is. But I wanted more – just to create my own art.
As the result began to experiment with various media (watercolor, pastel, oil, tempera), techniques and subjects.

Now art consumes 100% of my free time.
I found that the academic (traditional) approach to the art and Old Masters techniques is the direction I want to follow. …
