My name is Rachel Levine and I’m 28 years old, and living in Oakland CA. When I moved here 4 years ago, I decided that I was finally going to become a professional artist.
I have done art all my life, and it’s always had a very special meaning to me. Growing up, I would pause dvds I had and copy what was on the screen to the best of my ability, and do this every single day.

My household wasn’t peaceful either, so my favorite activity would be to draw made up characters with my sister, and create a whole unique world based out of our imagination. I could never stay focused in school, but what always held my attention was art. There are many things I’d like to work on with my art. Anatomy, color theory, maybe even still life. My Dream to Paint In the Style of the Old Masters

… Here and there, I started to buy some art supplies. I tried to paint in the style of the masters, but always came short. I even took a couple classes at the local college, but found that even the instructors didn’t know how to paint like the masters. Doing research, I realized that the old type of schooling, where masters would take apprentices under their wing and teach them their techniques was nearly non-existent. I almost gave up, until one day, almost by accident, I found the Old Masters Academy course. It was almost too good to be true!

New York is a magical place, I met a lot of artists here and I got inspired by them. Also, the museums in New York always there to give me numerous resource to learn. I am interested in the old master style of painting. I try to figure out their techniques. I find it hard to make a consistent process of painting like the old masters do.

I would like to learn more about the process and sequence of every step to finish an old master style painting. I think the Old Master Academy is a perfect place for an artist like me who want to learn the old master techniques.

Also, the online resource is really convenient for everyone who doesn’t have time to go to school. …
