Art has become my primary occupation since retirement

I am an old man who does not deserve to win this prize. However, if I do win I promise to never compete for funds or payment that takes away from younger professional painters.

Art has become my primary occupation since retirement. Everything I have painted I have given away. (Think of me as a loss leader in the art market. If my art works, potential clients might say, “I need to think about buying art.”)

I am a watercolor student in a class with 30 other talented seniors. I also do water miscible oils.

My challenge is to do enough art on a daily basis that I become proficient in making recipients delighted with my gifts. …

Uncovering the mystery, finding he lost and losing the found

I have been an artist for most of my life, since a child doing many drawings through to a young mum who realised that my painting was so much a part of my identity and spirituality.

My art making is my DNA , is who I am and why I want to be.

My biggest challenge at this time in my life is total focus. I work very well with deadlines, if I don’t have them then all the others “things” get in the way.
I have reached a point in my creative life that work I would have once been happy with I now see differently and now have a much higher aim.

The Old Masters Academy appeals to me because I really value the old techniques and would love to integrate them in my work and in growing in my technique.

Oil Painting by Breno Rossini

I want to learn how to paint people like the old masters

Hello, My name is Breno Rossini, I’m Brazilian and I’m 21 years old. I live in Espírito Santo, state near to Rio de Janeiro, and I am a student of Visual Arts at the federal university of my state.
My biggest challenge is to draw and paint human figures, because although it is what I love to do, it is the part that I have the most difficulty.

My professional goal is to be a classical painting teacher, so I think the OLD MASTERS ACADEMY is the best option I could find to achieve my goal because it is a very complete and didactic course that demonstrates adding much knowledge to your students. …

Old Masters Academy review by Songsari

After 3 decades later, now I am ready to do what I always wanted to do

I was consider myself very very talented in drawing when I was in high school but I didn’t wanted have a normal life with decent standard of living… I mean, I love Art but I didn’t go through the way what many masters went through… There was fear in my heart when I read life story of Van Gogh… I thought, I always able to in Art or painting after when I financially settle… So, I majored Engineering instead of Fine Art.. Soon, I realized that I made wrong decision..

I was changed my major to Graphic Design and I able to get a job in this field but initial earning out of this field was same as amateur artist…
Unable make living… I became computer tech. to just able to make living…

After 3 decades later, now I am ready to do what I always tend to do…

So many muses. So little time.

Although I trained in fine art at collage I didn’t paint at all! I was hooked on the shape and stories of the human body and made body casts and photographs to explore themes of attachment, and memory.

The paintings submitted for this competition are the 3rd time I have ever used oils
. I was so grateful for the Old Master Academy webinars because I literally knew nothing about oil painting before. Every morning I would start in my studio with their video and watch one lesson before starting from there. It was slow and very satisfying process. They showed me every step of the way. No questions were left unanswered and I felt supported in my new venture.

My painting techniques got better every day and artist friends of mine even commented on how much I was improving and not to give up on those tough days! …
