As a child I loved drawing and copied the old masters drawings. I applied to art college and decided to do graphic design. I had a liking for typography. I did not loose my interest in art and studied history and visited art galleries.

My regret is that I never continued my academic study of the classical methods of painting and drawing. It has taken a lifetime to realise my short comings, I continue to struggle and would love to take part in this competition. …

… My passion in oil painting is introducing realistic elements in a meaningful way. I also strive to do my own compositions, making it unique. My mind is filled with a lot of painting ideas, but frequently I feel the lack of technique that would allow me to express them fully.

I need to learn the Old Masters’ techniques so I can go further in painting realistic subjects. I already have some technical notions due to my academic studies and conservation practices, but I need to learn some specific techniques of the masters. Furthermore, I need this push to feel able to apply my theoretical knowledge into effective painting practice.

After a lot of research regarding classical painters, traditional painting methods, materials and so on, I’ve finally found the Old Masters Academy. It’s definitely what I was looking for! From my experience I have realized that passion, emotion and feelings are important, but they are not enough without proficiency, skill and instruction. I am sure that with the Old Master Academy I will fill in the gap more quickly than with other resources.
