how-to-paint-As-I-remember-I-could-never-talk-to-people-without-a-sketchbook

As I remember I could never talk to people without a sketchbook…

Artwork by Larisa Bertok

…Usually, I am going to sleep and I dream about paintings. Then I have to stand up and to draw in my sketchbook all the ideas that were coming… After that, the thing stops because I don’t have the knowledge to put it properly on canvas.

With choosing a different study, after my parents’ advice and moving to another country, there was no time for art. I was busy with the kids and I couldn’t afford myself to go back to school.

Now the children are bigger and I am…. older )) Maybe old enough to become a member of the Old Masters Academy… My wish is to learn all the old masters’ techniques so that I could create my own style and finally draw all the paintings that I have in mind.

Pleasure in painting and drawing

Artwork by Stamatis Pavlis

As a young child , Stamatis found immense pleasure in painting and drawing. This recreational activity soon blossomed into a passionate hobby, as his interest in artistic interpretations and depictions grew. While working, he kept exploring different paint mediums and decided to finally turn his passion for art with other painters in to exhibitions. Since that day, there has been no looking back. Being an admirer of classical painters, Stamatis loves spending time outdoors and inside of the studio. …

Art is my New Beginning

Artwork by Herman Santiago

My name is Herman, I am a U S Army Veteran with over 25 years of Service. I was working in the United States Postal Service in 2010 when the agency found me to be unfit to continue service due to my service connected conditions. I tried to get an accommodation but they denied it. So I found myself forced to apply for Social Security and VA has rated me as fully disabled.

In my search for giving my live new meaning I struggled with my reality. I decided to go to college and give myself a chance. At first I was enrolled in a civil engineer degree program. While I was doing my third semester registration I stumbled upon a Basic Drawing Course. I really enjoyed it the I took Drawing II and Basic Painting. I decided to change my major to Art with a concentration in Painting. …

I left my job and took up part time work so I could paint more

Artwork by Mathew Stanton

From a very young age I always used to draw and paint, I found it the best way to express my feelings and I was often alone
I struggled with realistic proportions and perspective but everyone knew what was going on in my art.

I left school and then I went to work struggling with back pain so I changed jobs many times but was as never happy I always did manual work but felt like something in my life was missing.

I took up piano, guitar I joined a gym but could never fill my time with this missing feeling I was looking for…

how-to-paint-Old-Masters-I was not allowed to do art as a child

I was not allowed to do art as a child…

Artwork by Richard Pearce

I was not allowed to do art as a child, my father was a Rolls Royce aircraft engineer. My father said I should be an engineer like him, I just could not tell him it was the last thing I wanted to do.

When I started working, I started painting in the evenings. It became my source of strength and stability. I have had some tuition but in watercolour, I wanted to paint in oils. A few years ago I switched to oils, made plenty of mistakes but carried on 4 to 6 hours a day. …

A Tribute to my Great Grandfather, an Old Master of the Philippines

Artwork by Miguel Peralta

Ramon Peralta was a well known oil painter in Philippines and also my great grandfather. During the 19th century, he reigned in the art industry a long with artists such as Juan Luna (painter of spoliarium) and Fernando Amonsolo. They learned their oil painting techniques and competed in art competitions within Europe.

Being told this story growing up, it lead me to a path of artistry. From when I was young till now, I have been exposed to many different art mediums. I enjoyed graphic design, painting, sculpting, drawing, makeup artistry and even the performing arts. Though I have tried a variety of ventures, there is still a fire in me towards oil painting.…

…I want to be able to share the word one day about the wonders of your Art Academy. I lack the knowledge on the old Masters techniques and I wish to help contribute bringing it back. Although paintings are a great way to make a mark in history, I believe education is really the true way to keep an art alive.
