Painting is new to me

Artwork by Denis

I have done about 75 paintings, all in 2017. I am in a low place in my life after a job loss and loss of my independence.

All my work is in acrylic. I have not done anything this year. I am not sophisticated enough to have a clever answer as to the whys and wherefores of my work and what I want. …

a professional artist career

My lifelong dream has been to pursue a professional artist career

Artwork by Sherry Mason

Recently retiring from a career as a pharmacist, my lifelong dream has been to pursue a professional master artist career. I was juried into membership with the Oil Painters of America and I know that I have the ability but I have not been able to fill in the gaps of my learning.

After watching the demos for the Old Masters Academy, I am convinced this course will provide the elements I have been pursuing to become a more accomplished artist.

I am predominantly self-taught which is reflected in my paintings and I now know what I am lacking. As experienced by Natalie, I am frustrated with the techniques taught by the “Masters of today” who clearly don’t appreciate the fine intricacies of color theory as she described. I learned how little I know and how much I can gain in these seven demo videos than I have been able to amass in all the workshops and books I have read. …

I want to learn how to paint like old masters

Artwork by Dipali Deshpande

My formal education is Mechanical engineering. After working for few years in corporate sector I gave up due to some personal reasons. But apart from doing my responsibilities I wanted to do something for myself, something that I could enjoy.

While helping my son in his art projects I realised this is it. Art is the thing I enjoy most and gives me mental peace. So I started painting as an hobby. But I didn’t realise when this hobby converted into my passion.

Being a self taught artist sometimes I took more long and wrong turns in my art journey. I was looking for a guide who could teach me in traditional way. But in India where focus is on Indian modern, getting proper traditional art education is quite difficult.

I joined two art classes but learned nothing than modern or guess work. To be frank, I was not satisfied with my progress. So while searching for traditional drawing techniques I came across drawing academy course. I thoroughly enjoyed Diploma in traditional drawing techniques under the guidance of of Vladimir and Natalie. Today I can draw with confidence and classical approach just because of that course.

I have started participating in group shows. I am very thankful to drawing academy for giving me new identity.…

I always wanted to be an artist

Painting by Ana María Jauregui

Hi, I would love to win this lifetime course. I Live in Ecuador. I always wanted to be an artist. When I was little the best I did was draw, make posters and cards for school and family.

When I graduated from school, art was not an option for my father, so I studied interior design so I could work with my brothers. Here in Ecuador there is not so good art schools. Every renowned artists has learned by him or herself. That’s what I have done since I became an interior designer.

I bought my own colours, paints and read, drew and painted by myself in a little space I had in the apartament I got with my husband. …

… I wanted to make a living as an artist but my Father told me to forget it …

Painting by Reynold R. Rossi

I am a 76 year old self taught artist which makes me a lifelong amateur would be artist.

I love to create artworks, some turn out good, some not so good, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My challenge is to create something from nothing, to make an art piece just from imagination.

I would like to learn new ways to create quality art work. I think Old Masters Academy could be very helpful in this regard. To win the Old Masters Academy course would be an encouraging, and inspiring reward.

Why should people vote for me? Good question, I know it would make me very happy, and give me a great boost of confidence. Beside all of this there is the desire to have my artwork evaluated by expert people who are successful trained artists. People who have spent many years in the study or art making. …

I have been an Artist since a young child

Paintings by Lorie Turpin

I am an artist and always have been. I loved all that colouring in grade school!

Then on to high school and my art class was life changing because the amazing teacher taught us so many different ways to create art. We learned sculpture, both with clay and plaster; we did lithograph on metal and leather; wood carving; painting; drawing; you name it we did it.

From there I went on to college and drew my very first “nude” model!!! Wow! That was an eye opener! (she says with tongue in cheek!)

After the kids needed me less I took up drawing and painting again (and pushed aside the sewing, crocheting, knitting, crafts, etc,. etc.) …
