I’ve always maintained an artistic eye in visual art

I’ve always maintained an artistic eye

Oil Paintings by Daryl

Art started young for me. My parents were fascinated with some early doodles and my 4th grade teacher loved my stuff, but I never followed through with any formal training.

I started surveying when I was young and got into the drafting and note keeping. This was back when these were actually drawn by hand. Nowadays most are computer driven CAD programs that don’t have the same appeal as the techniques I learned.

The women in my life have expanded my art world. The women have come and gone but the lessons endured. One summer affair in my early twenties was with a women from Massachusetts. She showed me Magritte. Another gave me a book, “Lust for Life”. Another explored museums with me and she being formally educated taught me about different styles. My life has gone through many different adventures but I’ve always maintained an artistic eye. …

I hope to improve my art skills and finally have an exhibition

Paintings by Karin Kuilmam

After my four children were all grown, I finally started painting as an almost daily practice again.

I love watching old master’s paintings, learn from them and try to make paintings inspired by them.
I am trying all kinds of materials, like egg tempera, acrylic paint, watercolor and pastels, and I bought oils but die not use them because they kind of impress me.

When I was young I was always drawing and when I was eighteen I went to art school. But my parents were not very happy with it so I became a primaryschool teacher instead, and I loved teaching children, and loved doing art with them.

All those years raising my own children and teaching at school there never seemed to be time to do some painting myself. …

I think the Old Academy Masters is exactly what I need!!!

Artwork by Vladimir

I started to paint almost as soon as I learned to walk.

The first canvas for me was a new wardrobe, which my parents bought the day before. On the main door I painted a handsome man. I thought everyone should like it. And immediately learned the first lesson: I’ll be not understood by my contemporaries.

For the next 50 years, I skipped painting classes :). But a year ago I decided that it’s never too late to start.

Now I study the academic drawing and watercolor. At the moment, I was very interested in classical oil painting. I would like to master the technique of old masters. …

Da Vinci Fanatic!

I am being intrigued and fascinated, almost fanatic, about the great 15th century, it´s kind of natural and decided by faith that I should also learn to paint like the magnificent masters Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Titian, Michelangelo.

And likewise the later an not less magnificent Poussin and Rembrandt – it just hasn’t happened yet. …

An other step …

I grew up among my grandfather’s brushes and paints. I learned from him the abc of the drawing. I drew in childhood until the teenage age but I gave up disappointed that I can not prepare myself and evolve, become a professional painter.

I’ve been thinking a few times to go to art college but I did not have anyone to prepare me for and I was not happy with what I was doing! Now, thanks to Vladimir and Natalie courses, I have overcome that moment! 😉

Art has become a permanent concern for me, my researches have never ceased and will not stop here. My current attempt is to make my artistic experiments a professional work and I would like to learn about art everything. Maybe I will never succeed but it’s the way I want to live. Old master academy may be the lesson I still need, or a drop of an ocean.

I know that I am far from the realm called Art, but the tools to decipher this mystery I can find to Natalie and Vladimir, and I am willing to learn from anyone who is willing to give me from his knowledge. …

Without art, life is hell

I am self taught and started painting in 1999. Recently, after a visit to Vienna, I became intrigued and a bit obsessed by skin tone… and realised that it was the art of glazing that captured my imagination.
The Old Masters captured this so well and are a constant inspiration.

So, for a couple of years, this is what I have been doing, or shall I say attempting to do..art is my therapy, my best friend, my only..every day.

I want to be able to paint well, not for an audience, bur for myself..I have learned quite a bit from the academy and hope to use it for the rest of my life. …
