Paintings by Charlotte Jane Kessler

So many muses. So little time.

Although I trained in fine art at collage I didn’t paint at all! I was hooked on the shape and stories of the human body and made body casts and photographs to explore themes of attachment, and memory.

The paintings submitted for this competition are the 3rd time I have ever used oils
. I was so grateful for the Old Master Academy webinars because I literally knew nothing about oil painting before. Every morning I would start in my studio with their video and watch one lesson before starting from there. It was slow and very satisfying process. They showed me every step of the way. No questions were left unanswered and I felt supported in my new venture.

My painting techniques got better every day and artist friends of mine even commented on how much I was improving and not to give up on those tough days! …

An artist looking for inspiration

My name is Luan Ricardo Friant, I am a self-taught student. I’ve been drawing for about 4 years and I’ve been painting for 3 years.
I’m Brazilian and I’m always doing my best to improve my knowledge, especially with the contrubuições of the great masters.

I work with oil painting, drawing charcoal and graphite. I have already participated in a collective exhibition in my city, Aracaju. I study Rembrandt’s techniques in a deeply personal way. Nowadays I study the realist school, I believe that life without art would have no purpose. …

When I saw the Old Masters Academy website I instantly understood that it is one of the best oil painting courses available on the Internet as it offers the authentic ways of how to paint in oils.

This educational resource is packed with helpful information and that is why I would like to study in this Academy. I have so much to learn about art and oil painting in particular. …

Paintings by Ageliki

Art, as much as every kind of knowledge, is an internal and eternal processing…

As far as I remember, I loved to paint. Figures and portraits mostly and sometimes landscapes. Art was not a way to earn a living according to my family though, so I followed totally different paths. I studied Education and Sociology, had a family, moved a lot through Greece.

9 years ago I settled down to a beautiful small town by the sea, at western Greece. Here I decided to start painting, since I never gave up my dream all these years. Having no teachers at all troubled me a lot. For example I didn’t know there was such a thing as “medium” to help me apply my thick Titanium white on canvas! …
