Art drives my life forward

Artwork by Gail Franklin

I’ve never had a chance to go to art school. But that didn’t stop the dream! I’ve always drawn since I can remember. Now I’m nearing retirement and the dream comes even more alive.

Why do I love oil painting? Why do I paint? I HAVE to. Art drives my life forward.

I want to learn more about painting, but not only technique …but to learn what to paint and what NOT to paint…that’s an artist. Old Masters Academy would be a dream come true. …

I dream of painting like old masters for a living

I dream of painting for a living

Artwork by Dona

I have painted my whole life whenever I could between raising my son and working. Recently, I have been able to do paint more but I still want to be able to paint daily.

I dream of painting for a living. It would be wonderful to get to a place where I can show and sell paintings in a gallery. As far as taking classes — the internet has been a wonderful tool for my advancement but more of a piecemeal approach and with no feedback. I know having a teacher who can guide my advancing to where I want to go is priceless. …

… I know I will get solid training with the Old Masters Academy and winning would allow me more time to paint then working! I don’t have many years left to paint and couldn’t think of what to say to anyone so they would vote for me. …

I was ambitious to become the artist

I was ambitious to become an artist

Artwork by Asma Ahmed

I was born in Pakistan and my passion for fantasy based art came from Televisions with cartoons and animations inspiring me. It took place at a young age when I was in Preschool and ever since then I was ambitious to become an artist.

One of my Artistic challenges are real life drawings as they are closest to reality but I attend to let go of my fear and just do it. Honestly I want to learn to be creative innovative and create beautiful art that can awe inspire the audiences.

In search for information on painting and drawing

Artwork by Daniel Mershkovic

I grew up in a time when I didn’t know that you could actually make a living in art. I’ve always known that I had an above average ability to paint and oil is pretty much the only medium I ever used.

Life takes over and you raise babies, go to work and never fully expand your art. That’s me. I did attend the Art Institute one year, yet I don’t recall that they taught me much beyond the ability I already had.

Capturing reality of the reincarnating artists

Artwork by Elizer Soriano

I choose to live by the idea of creating the most rare and one of a kind art piece, to capture both reality and delusional horror by using a blank canvas. To be able to show the world something that is non existent to their imagination and reality.

My elements are collections of thoughts that comes across my daily life, a leak of imagination.

Art is a way to make this simple life become amazing, to make something wonderful out of nothing, to converse without talking and to show the world who I really am. And today I choose to share this to you, my own little introduction of myself to a complete stranger. …

I want to learn emotions, I want to master the ability to incorporate emotions with my art ideas.

My desire is to paint like the Old Masters

Artwork by Margaret Phillips

I am getting on in life now but ever since I was a tiny child, I have been fascinated and challenged by my desire to paint like the Old Masters.

I live in country Australia and have only ever had the opportunity to see real Old Masters in an exhibition in Melbourne about forty years ago when Russia allowed a collection of art pieces to travel while renovations were being done to the Hermitage. I took two tiny children twice a week for as long as the exhibition ran, but due to the press of crowds, never had the chance to study them. …

… These workshops gave me a taste of my abilities and I have continued my studies using books and lots of practice but I feel I lack the confidence and finesse and techniques to produce works to the standard I know I am capable of doing.

In my experience there is a handful of artists who can produce beautiful Old Master style paintings. I would dearly love to be one of them.

I put my artistic career on hold for twenty years to raise my amazing children

Artwork by Michelle Scott

My passion, my goal… to paint and travel for as much as I’m able and for as long as I’m able… I place part of my soul on every canvas
Creative Canvas Gallery is the realisation of my dreams…..

I put my artistic career on hold for twenty years to raise my three amazing children. I started again 14 years ago, in Ballito on the North Coast KZN, South Africa. I started teaching about 12 years ago, and have had many rewarding moments along the way.
Many exhibitions and a few projects later, I find myself in the wonderful situation of being able to paint every day. …

I’m old – But Not a Master Yet ….

Artwork by Carol Rickless

Hello, I’m Carol and am a recent retiree who always loved doing art; drawing, painting, crafting and designing. My dream in high school was to go to college and major in the fine arts. But then, I started work, put myself through a local college and got a ‘safe” degree, Sociology. I finished my working career as an administrative assistant, not a particularly creative job!

I’ve taken many classes in acrylic, watercolor and decorative painting as well as drawing courses. I enjoy going to museums and art galleries to see how artists handle their medium and what inspires them. I belong to our local art league and have made some wonderful friends.

My artistic challenges are color mixing, shading and learning how to “see” what my oil painting needs to move it to the next level. I would like to learn more about good composition.

I am a self-taught artist who is still learning

Artwork by Umut Sungur

In my language Umut means Hope and according to artist Gerhard Richter “Art is the highest form of hope”. Art is another way of expressing your feelings, thoughts, hopes and dreams.

I am a self-taught artist who is still learning and I know there is a lot to learn. My journey started 6 years ago. I wanted to learn sculpting but I discovered that you have to have a sound base. So I attended drawing classes and then studied oil painting in different courses. …
