how-to-paint-self-thaught-artist-have little time to paint

Please help!

Artwork by Gina Faulk

I have been a professional artist for 35 years but am self taught and paintings take me hundreds of hours to complete a 40×60” painting. It is because I don’t know what I am doing. I desperately want to learn tips, tricks and techniques to make me a more prolific and accomplished artist.

I really need to get enough pieces to have a show. Since I have been painting and creating for clients for so many years I have very few pieces that are mine. Maybe one or two. I take care of my aging mother and have little time to paint.…

My day doesn’t feel complete unless I’ve done something with my art

Artwork by Francine Proulx Harvey

I’m a 67 year old mother of 5 children with 13 grandchildren who didn’t start painting till around 50 because life was just too busy with our dairy farm, kids and parents. For years, I saved a picture of my husband with our third daughter in his arms, with the intention of learning how to paint it…but the problem was that it took 5 years to find someone who could teach me portraiture! …

My challenges I think are with color choice and the struggle to see tones better and is therefore what I want to learn from this course. I believe the Old Masters Academy teaches the correct way to paint and is necessary to acquire to become whatever kind of artist you might choose to be afterwards… it’s the best foundation in my view.

I want to win because I want to prove that age makes no difference and that passion has no boundaries. …

I always had a pencil or brush in my hand

Artwork by Eleanore Ditchburn

Painting has been at the heart of my creative practice since I was young, I always had a pencil or brush in my hand and find it an important way to express feelings to other people. I am at my happiest when I am in front of the easel making beautiful pieces of work in my small studio space.

My aim is to learn the classical painting process which is not fashionable in contemporary art education and to use the knowledge to promote the artisan craft of fine art painting through my passion and knowledge gained.

I am an artist!

Artwork by Lorie

I am an artist! I have been one my whole life and I just can’t stop creating! Not only do I paint but I put all my creative abilities into everything I do…. cooking…..sewing, knitting, etc. etc. You get the picture. …

I truly want to learn more and the Old Masters Academy seems to be what I am looking for. I want to get to a place where my art sells itself and I feel truly fulfilled as an artist.
