how-to-paint-artist since I was little

Another chance…

Artwork by Kara Faust

I now have two children and have been an art teacher for the past ten years which I love because I have always seen myself as an artist. I gave up my own fine arts education to raise my children and have a stable future.

I would love to have the opportunity to still be classically trained that I feel like I missed out in and pass this on to my students. I am an art teacher who has always been passionate about art but desire more training and there isn’t an atelier near me.

In the footsteps of the old masters

Artwork by Vicente Morel

My first approach to art was through drawing, painting came later.
Drawing and painting, as a hobby and profession occupy all my moments.
My challenges in art is to make a level jump, from my current condition to one more step on this long ladder of learning. …

how-to-paint-Old-Masters-techniques of the masters using modern materials

I loved the idea of being able to learn the “techniques of the masters using modern materials”

Artwork by Helen Wessels

I studied Clinical Dietetics at a reputable Medical School, all the time hoping that “one day” I would be able to live the big dream: Creating masterpieces that can be shared with generations to come.

… I stumbled upon the Old Masters’ Academy a few weeks ago. My heart raced! Could this be it? Could this be the guidance I was waiting for, could this be the open door? I loved the idea of being able to learn the “techniques of the masters using modern materials”. Also the idea that the course videos could be studied at one’s own pace, as well as the life-long access to the course materials. As a bonus, I could even be in contact with a real-life artist to guide me through!

I want to learn how to create masterpieces that can last forever, without fading, that could be enjoyed and inspire generations to come.

how-to-paint-This is the first time I’m showing my art

This is the first time I’m showing my art…

Artwork by Jay Karas

… I come from a small village in Poland. I was born and raised there and moved to states when I was 15. The only thing I knew was school and farm work for the first 15 years of my life. Not very exciting but at the same time I learned a lot about life and hard work at very young age.

I always loved to doddle, never thought of myself as an artist and I still don’t. Like they say: “We are our own worst critics”. I picked up a paint brush for the first time when I was about 30 and only been painting for 8 years. …

how-to-paint-I draw and paint for a living

I draw and paint for a living

Artwork by Adrian Puscas

I am a young artist that wishes to take part in the competition. I draw and paint for a living and want to learn more from the Old Masters Academy , the Drawing Academy was very helpful and I can Imagine how this one would be.

I mostly paint portraits, but cannot wait to try to paint still-lifes and landscapes. The most interesting thing in the Old Masters Academy painting I think is the amount of information: history, techniques, artworks, time spent on lessons that makes this course so great.

how-to-paint-Old-Masters-Art Addict

Art Addict

Artwork by Christiane Bouret

Art has been a part of my life since childhood. As a young teen I was given a gift of pastel chalk… then at 16 my father gave me his oil paints (he dabbled at it). I never have had formal training… did not learn about color wheel, warm/cool colors etc.. until I was mid 50’s when I began taking workshops.

I began with a landscape artist, but after a 5-6 years, I found a portrait artist and took workshop with her and watched u-tube and DVD’s I purchased ….But although my work has evolved over the last 15 years, I still feel my work is lacking what I am looking for…the WOW factor of a great painting. I cannot pin point exactly what I am doing wrong, but know it is wrong.

how-to-paint-Who-would-be-a-better-teacher-than-an-old-master

Who would be a better teacher than an old master?!

Artwork by Lauren Warren

I NEED to paint something so alive, so aware, the painting itself has its own stream of consciousness.

Art takes up every empty cup and dusty corner of my life. I’ve been making drawings for years and I’ve been told my work is phenomenal but when you “know” how to make art it becomes very difficult. I’ve seen phenomenal, and sadly my inner jerry Saltz would not define my work as such.
But like most artists that’s not as important as the NEED to make art. The compulsory itch to make things never goes away. Perhaps it is a way for us to be godlike. …

how-to-paint-traditional art Old Masters

With Persistence and God’s Help

Artwork by Fred J. Sklenar

I have been involved with fine art and illustration for more than five decades. I received my formal art education at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. My family served as a model for my career path. My father taught art and was an artist/painter. My grandmother, my daughter and my son are also art driven.

I started my career in the art world as a paste-up board artist for a newspaper syndicate. It was most difficult finding a position since all employers were seeking experience and I was fresh out of school. …

how-to-paint-portraits-Old-Masters-master oil painting

At last, I have found what I have been looking for!

My name is Marie, I am Irish and am a grandmother of 4 children.

I love art as it is more than a hobby, it is a therapeutic distraction for me as I also have a job that carries some stress. I love painting now more than ever as I recently decided that I was going to master oil painting. I was always put off because of the cost of the oil paints…

how-to-draw-Art keeps me young

Art keeps me young

Artwork by Juan Cesana

Art for me is a hobby, all the art I have done so far was for family or friends.

Art keeps me young on my mind and I’m always exploring possibilities. My introvert personality does not let me show my art to many peoples for fear of judgement, or rejection etc.
That is one of the reasons I would love to learn from, and be part of this academy. I want to share my work, to be critiqued by professionals, art teachers, art lovers and other students.
I always think, I am too old for this, but my beautiful family keeps encouraging me to keep painting, to continue drawing and creating art.

My challenges as an artist is to improve my confidence and techniques, to create my own style, be able to value and accept criticism, I am my worst critic, because I can be very timid in this regard.
Learning from your academy will sure help me. …
