I was fond of painting since my childhood

Paintings by Abbas Hussain Saleem Baltee

I belong to District Ghanche Khaplu Gilgit-Baltistan Pakistan. I started my early education from Khaplu.

I was fond of painting since my childhood. It was my passion. I secured first position in every art competition at school. As I was interested in Arts and paintings so I had so many hurdles and problems in my way as there was no particular institution in Khaplu or Gilgit Baltistan that promoted Art.

I used to make paintings in order to promote the culture of Gilgit-Baltistan. After making paintings I kept my paintings at home due to lack of Art Exhibitions in my area. Instead of giving up, I decided to continue my studies as well as my art work.

My family and friends encouraged me to a level that despite of my perseverance, I didn’t need any special institutions to continue my Art work. Art and painting is my hobby and passion. …

I want to paint like the Old Masters

Artwork by Nicolas Rodriguez

I’m a 28 years old painter from Santiago, Chile.

They say that to be a master at something the simple formula is: do what you love, and do it at the best of your abilities. Painting is my “what I love”.

When I see a painting by an Old Master, be it Rembrandt, Rubens, Titian, Hals, Degas, etc. something is stirred in me and the beauty and dedication of this masters to their works stirs something inside of me and makes me more noble.

I want to paint like the Old Masters. …

You hoo..finally hear me roar..uhmmm….paint!

Paintings by T.L. Davison

I have had a love of painting ever since I could remember, and having always received water-colour and paint book set as a child certainly steered me in the direction of eventually being an artist, in a family of teachers and nurses; at the time the two most popular professions open to women. It was expected that I would eventually follow in the direction of my siblings embrace one of those two professions. Well no one banked on an almost paralyzing case of homophobia which immediately cancelled out any idea of nursing. As for teaching, well, it certainly wasn’t my calling. …

Art is the Future

Paintings by Faith Alexander

Hello, my name is Faith Alexander and I’m 18 years old. Art honestly is my future and I don’t want to do anything else as a career.

Art has been in my life for 9 years total, I’ve been through the hobby stage of my art, now art is something I take seriously and to me that means being able to learn outside of my comfort zone.

My artistic challenges are properly executing techniques, color theory, and actually using a color scheme, and I take this as an opportunity to continue learning.

I want to learn from a teacher how to actually apply techniques, color theory, how to start and finish a painting like the old masters.

I was brainwashed by contemporary artist into having the “creativity doesn’t equal skill” mindset, when without skill I can’t execute what’s creative in my mind! …

Life is too short to worry too much

Paintings by Roger Miller

I lost my only son at age 6. That’s when I began to realize life is too short and too precious a thing to waste on worry.

My art is a representation of the joys of life, found in the small aspects, in the grandeur of mountains, the power of the water, the Majesty of all living things.

The challenges I face, in addition to there’s not enough time in the day, are putting on canvas a scene that evokes reality in the veiwer, that tickles a distant memory of, ” I may have been there”. I’d love to express this the way the Old Masters did, the purity and intensity of light, the mystery of shadow, the brush strokes of genius. …

I love art

I love art

Paintings by Christopher Lanotis

I love art and use every opportunity to visit art museums when travelling. I wanted to become an artist, but my parents advised me to pursue a different career and it look like a good decision at a time. The older I get the stronger my desire to paint. I am a self taught artist and think that my life would be very different should I follow the childhood dream.

When I found the Old Masters Academy course, I was very impressed with the information provided here. It is my dream to learn to paint like great masters did. It would be fantastic should I win this art course.
