My name is Donette. I am 72 and have recently retired from nursing the aged and Altzheimer’s patients.

My dream has always been to do oil painting when retired. I have felt the urge to record the beauty that I see in nature and also to do portraits of people and animals that I also love dearly.

I have loved to paint since childhood. People have always liked my work but I know that I have to learn a lot more about the art of drawing and painting. I would love to paint without the fear of making a mistake, to use clean colours, to learn all about values and tones and to paint nice loose strokes where every brushstroke makes an impact. …

The story that was never told

Art to me was a place to express my self at first until I realized it was more than that to tell a story. They say a picture is worth a thousand words well I need to paint a thousand paintings to get the this one story out.

Most of my artistic challenges come from the lack of knowledge or help because I am mainly self taught. I hope and will learn the mysteries behind the art the way the masters crafted such pieces. I think the Old Masters Academy is a great tool for artists to learn and adapt their knowledge to what was taught in the past. …

At the age of 53 I’ve got my first easel and finally started to paint and draw

I always wanted to be able to draw and paint , and now at the age of 53 I got my first easel and finally started.

Art has always been a big part of my life, back in Moscow I would stand in line for hours to see the paintings from museums I thought I would never be able to visit. Now I am lucky to be able to visit art museums all over the world. I attend every exhibition and every art event in my home town.

Seeing works of art , especially old masters brings me joy. I really want to be able to copy some of my favorite paintings and paint the beauty of nature I see every single day.

I realize I am far from my goal but even mixing paints and little steps I take put a smile on my face. …

Retired disabled but never busier with kids and grandchildren, art is my only distraction from such a busy life, at first I wanted to become a Picasso but after a class with an Russian teacher my life changed.

The Russian school is the only way to go BUT my financial put a stop to that, after so much search I found your Drawing Academy program and got that and now I feel the need to paint, the more frustrating I get the more I want to paint but I am of course spinning my wheels, old master academy is the only only one that address my needs and makes sense. …

I have been drawing seriously since I was three years old, and have been engrossed in art all my life.

I have had my drawings win awards and go on tour during my high school years in Canada. I started painting in my early twenties, and have continued to do so on and off for the past thirty years.

I have tried multiple styles, but find myself drawn to the style of the old masters and find it to be my most promising style and love. I know I have the talent, but find myself stuck at my current level, and want to break through to the finers aspects.

I’m semi-retired and need a second income.
Because I’ve always loved art, I’m hoping I can turn it into an income to live on.

I want to learn how to plan a painting, to take it from an accurate sketch to a luminous masterpiece, and I see they teach it here at Old Master’s Academy. I did not get this quality of knowledge in school or college and you can’t get consistent results from YouTube or anything on the internet that is of this caliber that I know of.
